CONVERSE

Converse and the genesis of Sneakers

In 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts (USA), Marquis M. founded the Converse Rubber Corporation, with the aim of producing footwear specifications for a new emerging sport: basketball, whose official presentation took place at the Olympics in St. Louis in 1904.
In 1917, Chuck Taylor, a basketball player of Akron Firestones, become not only the first testimonial sports history, but also the main source of inspiration for the company. By ideas coming from this "pioneer", Malden basketball scores from the sportswear shoe model more durable and iconic of all time: the "Converse Chuck Taylor All Star".
With the passage of time Converse gradually abandons every sporting ambitions (due to the decline in the area of Big Adidas and Nike) and sneakers All Star become the favorite shoes by many rock stars and movie stars, consecrating themselves well among young people as the symbol of an emerging counterculture.

Today Converse celebrates the legend, revising colors and materials (as in the case of Star Player) but leaving largely unchanged form, that never as in this case, is the substance!
